WHAT’S A VK?
Vertical Kilometers (VK) are a historic tradition of nearly every mountain town in the Alps. They are as much of a community gathering as a gutsy sporting event that bring out the whole town, from young to old, to celebrate the town, its people, its traditions, and of course the mountains surrounding the town.
WHY A VK SERIES?
We’re lucky in Boulder to have some of the best steep running and 3 or more nearly-VK hills in our backyard, and we felt that bringing a VK series to town would be a fitting endeavor for our niche skimo (and sub-ultra) community.
So, as we’re out there chasing PRs (and KOM/QOMs!) tomorrow, don’t forget the meaning behind the Euro VKs: a celebration of the town, its people, its traditions, and the mountains.
